CEU certification?
CEU (Continuing Education Units) CPE (Continuing Professiona Education) or CPD (Continuing Professional Development) are an internationally recognized standard for documenting successful completion of non-credit programs and short courses intended to improve the knowledge and skills of working adults. This is also for the simple fact that there is no end in seeking knowledge.
Most other industry also requires their professionals to earn credit hours on a yearly basis. This way, health professionals (including allied health and Alternative practitioners) who have already received formal training from a university or other educational institution are able to touch up on their existing knowledge, revise their concepts and stay up to date on new practices. The medical doctor equivalent for this is called CME (Continuing Medical Education).
It is however, not for individuals without basic degree in the field to take on the responsibility of a full pledge of health experts/practitioner. Doing so, is akin to delibrately trying to deceive the public.
CEU, CPE and CPD certification are utilised as proof of their commitment (validated by the board, association or Guild) which in turn, helps maintain membership (again by the Board...etc).
